The Miller Conference on Radiation Chemistry is organised every second year and was supposed to have been held in 2021. Due to the pandemic, the conference is postponed until 2023. As this has been the fate of several international conferences in the field, the chances for early career scientists to present their work and to establish valuable connections have been very scarce. For this reason, the Miller Trust for Radiation Chemistry has decided to host an online workshop on radiation chemistry.
Scope of this Online Workshop
The Miller Online Workshop on Radiation Chemistry has a particular focus on giving early career scientists the chance to present their work orally in short presentations. Several senior scientists from different fields of radiation chemistry will be invited to give longer highlight talks. However, the majority of the talks will be given by early career scientists. Everyone (senior scientists as well as early career scientists) is also encouraged to present a poster. The scope will include all fields of fundamental and applied radiation chemistry.
Senior scientists will play an important role in the workshop, by providing valuable contributions to discussions and important feedback to the early career scientists, and we therefore strongly encourage their participation.
For the purposes of this workshop, we are defining "early career scientists" as those who have not yet obtained their PhD, or who received their PhD within the last 7 years (which can be extended to account for career breaks).
Timing
In an effort to accommodate as many people throughout the world as possible at the same time, the workshop will run for three consecutive days, each day beginning at 12:00 CET and running for either 4 hrs or 4 hrs 40 mins.
Due to the short amount of time available each day, the early career scientist talks will be limited to 15 min + 5 min questions. We will also hold a series of 5 minute flash presentations at the end of the sessions on the first two days.
